What is Adaptive Clothing?
Share
Adaptive clothing is designed for people with physical disabilities, mobility challenges, or for the elderly who struggle to dress independently due to a lack of full range of motion or because it is difficult to work with zips, buttons, buckles, and similar closures.
This type of clothing gives independence and improved self-esteem to the user and ease of caring to the caregiver.
ADAPTIVE CLOTHING FEATURES
Wondering exactly what adaptive clothing entails? Here are some common features that you will often find on Anucool's clothing:
HOOK AND LOOP FASTENERS
These closures stay put all day, yet are very easy to open, close, and adjust as needed. These Velcro-like closures make dressing a breeze
OPEN SIDES OR BACKS
Kurtis and t-shirts featuring overlapping fabric panels along the shoulder blades, sleeves, and sides. This allows for easy dressing as well as access to catheters, drain channels, and other medical devices. The panels may be held in place by Velcro-like hook-and-loop fasteners.
MAGNETIC CLOSURES
These closures are super easy to work with. The magnets stay stuck together until you grasp the fabric panels and move them apart. Keep in mind that magnetic closures are not suitable for those who have pacemakers.
ELASTIC WAIST PANTS
Thoughtfully designed pant allows easy dressing with the help of super soft hook and loop patches along the front for easy access to the waist, hips, upper and lower legs. Perfect clothing during recovery, doctor visits, physiotherapy sessions, or even to casually step out!
